Snorri, Nordic Tug 37-049, was built in Burlington, WA.,
completed in April, 2001, and trucked to New England. She is a
fine example of Nordic Tugs' reputation for rugged craftsmanship,
a quiet ride, and reliable and fuel-efficient performance. Snorri
is a 39-foot trawler tug with a pilothouse, salon/galley, head
and two staterooms. On deck she has a partially covered aft cockpit,
and a sundeck above the salon. Powered by a 330 hp Cummins diesel,
she can reach a top speed of 16 knots and cruises economically
at 8 knots, burning only 3.5 gph. Like all Nordic Tugs, she features
a semi-displacement hull with a full keel, hard chine, and fine
entry bow—a combination that provides a quiet and stable
ride. She boasts the famous Nordic Tug pilothouse with convenient
360 degree views and direct access to the deck from both sides.
The beautiful salon is both practical and comfortable. Her thoughtful
design and quality construction feels like home and is ideal for
entertaining or extended cruising.
Snorri's interior is well appointed with extensive
factory customizing: teak and holly sole in the salon and pilothouse,
teak armrests on pilothouse seats, teak valences in the salon,
teak pneumatic dining table, teak cabinets flanking both sides
of the queen berth, and custom designed office/library/guest
stateroom with teak desk, book cases, and hanging locker. Many
of these customizations were later adopted as standard
equipment by the Nordic Tugs factory.
Her original owners, Herb Nickles and Wendy
Shepherd, based Snorri's design on thousands of nautical miles
of cruising experience on both coasts. Her systems were designed
for cruising by cruisers. Options include bow thruster, generator,
inverter, air conditioning with reverse-cycle heat, salt-water
washdown, tank monitors on all tanks, dual racor filters, 48-mile
radar, gps, autopilot, VHS, sunlight-readable display, laptop
navigation setup, USB network, cell phone antenna and booster,
anemometer, barometer, tide clock, stereo/CD with 6 speakers,
12/110v color TV/DVD, line cutter on prop, swim ladder, top deck
rails, dinghy davits, custom mast and boom, deck lights, windlass,
two anchors and rodes, large ball fenders, braided dock lines,
cockpit shower, 3 burner propane stove and oven, microwave, AC/DC
refrigerator/freezer, and more!
Snorri is truly a one-of-a-kind Nordic Tug.
Her new owners have relocated her to Essex, Connecticut.
